DRIVING LICENSE DEPARTMENT

Our office is responsible for implementing the Driving License Process
for both motorcycles and cars.
And for 
- Issuing Driving Licenses
- Renewing, Cancellation and Replacement of Driving Licenses.
- International Driving Licenses

Information: DRIVERS LICENSE fees 
For motorcycles  55 Baht/year
For cars   105 Baht/year



Thai Driver License
The paper documents needed to apply for a driving license
1.   Passport with non-immigrant visa (original, before the visa expires) 
      and photo copy.
2.   Present resident address certified by the applicant's Embassy and photo copy or work permit or Immigration officer and photo copy.
3.   2 photos 2.5 inches.
4.   Doctor report of doctor treatment (not over 1 month).
5.   For the driving license that a foreign government has given 
      (the same type of vehicles that asking for the driving license) 
      and it is not expired yet, the embassy can translate and guarantee the 
      translating documents into Thai language.
6.   International Driving Permit (convention on international road traffic of 19 
      September 1949) original and photo copy which is not expired.

Notice
If you have the document no. 5 or 6, only an eye test required.
If the document no. 5 or 6 is expired, please implement as following:
1.   Training attending (it is allowed forum interpreter to get into a training room)
2.   Written test
3.   Practical driving test each category of driving license fee is appointed from 

      Phuket Provincial Land Transport Office.
 

Important Notice
From the Phuket Provincial Land Transport Office
From 19 November 2001, Phuket Provincial Land Transport office has changed the training time period for new driver license as following: 

Application and Training

08.30-09.50 A.M.  Check and inspect all documents, eye test. 
If you can not come in time, you can give the application from to the officer and come back on the next day for training.
10.00-12.00 A.M.  Driving license training
13.00 P.M. Written test and written test results
14.00 P.M. Practical driving test
Note:
Temporary Driving Licenses for motorbikes or cars are valid as a 1-year Driving License.


Driving License Renewing

When you are issued a driving license please note that there is an expiration date.   Please come to renew your driving license on or before the expired date, but not later than the expire date.
You can also renew after the expired date, but not later than 1 year; otherwise, you have to take tests same as for a new driving license.

information: A driving license is only 1 year old according to government permission for foreigners annually.

1)   Passport (and 1 signed copy of photo page)
2)   Visa (and 1 signed copy)
3)   Two 1 inch photos

For a Lost Driving license
To replace your lost license please bring with you
1.   Passport (and 1 signed copy)
2.   Visa (and 1 signed copy)
3.   Two 1 inch photos
Note: Available from vendors outside the parking lot on the main road.
4.   Inform officers (to record the details of a lost driving license) 
5.   Make the payment
6.   Sign your signature in your new driving license and receive it on the next 
      day


International Driving Permit
Foreigners who temporarily have the permission to stay in Thailand and have the international driving permit (convention on international road traffic of 19 September 1949) which is not expired and would like to use it in Thailand, please hand the application form and needed documents as following to

Document inspection
25 baht for payment
Permission seal at the back of the blank page.

International Driving Permit

Convention on International road traffic of 19 September 1949
Passport with non-immigrant visa original & photo copy.
Thai driver license (private) original & photocopy.
Present resident address certify from Embassy 
2 photo 2.5 inches
Postal order receipt 500 Baht and postal order receipt 5 Baht
Authorize letter with fee of stamp 10 Baht (if don’t come by yourself)
Stamp 14 Baht (@ 7 Baht)
